  • How would you describe the tattoo scene in your country today?

The scene in Italy is incredibly sophisticated. There is a deep respect for artistic tradition combined with modern technology, which sets a very high standard for quality.

  • How would you define yourself in one word?

Resilient.

  • Where did your fascination with tattoos come from?

It began with drawing as a child in Brazil. At 13, I saw an older friend’s first tattoo and was mesmerized by how skin could be transformed by art.

I eventually built a homemade machine and tattooed a friend in a backyard—humble beginnings that led to a lifelong journey.

  • What is your daily work routine like?

My day is a balance between execution and education. I focus on complex projects for my clients while also dedicating time to mentoring new talent within my studio.

  • Which tools and machines do you prefer to use?

I rely on professional-grade equipment such as Bishop and FK Irons to ensure the highest quality and safety.

  • What is the most rewarding aspect of being a tattoo artist?

After more than 20 years, the most rewarding part is still the client’s reaction—knowing that my art has become a permanent part of their identity.Alex Uliano • The Discipline Behind 20 Years of Tattoo Excellence 6 April 2026

  • How would you define your current style, and how did you develop it?

I specialize in Black and Grey, Tribal, and Trash Polka. My work is a fusion of geometric foundations and the expressive, chaotic energy of the Trash Polka style.

  • Are there any tattoos you prefer not to do?

I prioritize ethics and longevity. I avoid designs that don’t align with my technical strengths or placements that I know won’t age well for the client.

  • How do you stay at the top of your field?

By constantly evolving and contributing to the community. I’ve had the honor of serving as a judge for five competitions—four online events, where I’ve already judged two and have two upcoming, and one major in-person convention in Brazil later in 2026.

Critiquing the work of over 80 artists per event is a responsibility I take very seriously.

  • Do you teach or mentor upcoming artists?

Absolutely. I am currently focused on offering mentorship programs and opening my studio to apprentices to help shape the next generation of professionals.

  • Have you won any awards?

Yes, I’ve received several awards, including 1st place in Tribal and 2nd place in Freehand at Expomitologia, as well as recognitions in Trash Polka, Cover-ups, and Fine Line at events such as Berserk, Invictus, and Katana.

  • What is your greatest achievement?

Maintaining the same passion for over 20 years and being recognized as a trusted authority to judge and mentor others within the international community.

  • What are your goals for the near future?

To expand my mentorship programs and continue my international guest spots in Switzerland, Ireland, and the USA.

  • What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want to be remembered as an artist who not only mastered the craft but also built a foundation for others through education and professional ethics.
