For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
My name is Victoria. I was born in 1991. I’m originally from Hungary, although I’ve been living abroad for the past 15 years. I moved to Spain when I was 18, specifically to Tenerife. I’m the owner of Black Lines Tattoo Studio, located in the south of Tenerife. I specialize mainly in line work and geometric tattoos, although I’ve recently started incorporating semi-realism into my style to create a blend of both.

Where did your fascination for tattoos come from?
I’ve always had a passion for art, when I was a child, I studied fine arts. I used to watch a lot of tattoo shows on TV, which really inspired me and sparked my curiosity about the world of tattooing. I also loved playing with geometric shapes, and one of my favorite toys growing up was the Spirograph.

It really influenced my fascination with patterns and symmetry. I would spend hours creating these intricate, repetitive designs, and I think that’s where my love for geometry and detail truly began.

How and when did you start tattooing?
I started when I was 18, by working at a tattoo shop handing out flyers and, in my free time, learning how to tattoo. I’m an ambitious and disciplined woman, when I want to achieve something, I go all in until I get it. I kept climbing step by step and learning more about the industry every year, until I opened my first shop in January 2020, starting on my own, right before COVID hit.

To be honest, it was a big challenge to overcome, especially during the pandemic, but I made it through, and now I run my second studio with a team of five tattoo artists.

How would you describe the tattoo scene in Spain these days?
Spain has a lot of incredibly talented tattoo artists, and the level of creativity and skill is really impressive. Unfortunately, the economic situation doesn’t always support the value of artistic work, which can make it challenging for artists to thrive as they deserve. Still, the tattoo community here is strong, passionate, and constantly evolving.

How would you define your tattoo style?
I specialize mainly in line work and geometry, although I’ve recently started blending geometric elements with semi-realism. I’d love to create more pieces that combine both styles.

What kind of tattoo projects do you like to do the most?
Within my style, I enjoy any project, as long as I’m given the freedom to create and work with the body’s natural anatomy.

What’s the main source of inspiration for your tattoos?
I believe inspiration can be found everywhere, even in something as simple as a Spotify album cover. I often listen to music while designing or have something playing in the background to help spark creativity. Of course, attending conventions and seminars is also a great source of inspiration. I think it’s important to keep your eyes open and stay receptive to growth, it’s a long journey, and we never really stop learning. That’s the beauty of this life.

What’s the most challenging aspect of being a tattoo artist in 2025?
I think the most difficult part is managing social media, staying active and constantly present without letting the pressure of the virtual world affect your mental health. It’s a powerful tool, but it can also become overwhelming if we’re not careful with boundaries.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a tattoo artist?
When I tattoo, I feel like I enter another world, it’s as if I slip into another dimension where only the piece I’m working on exists. I just flow. I also have to say that participating in conventions has opened up a whole new world for me. It’s an incredible feeling when people approach you and even more so when recognition comes from fellow artists and tattooers.

What’s your experience at tattoo conventions so far?
It’s honestly one of my favorite parts of being a tattoo artist, ever since I discovered it! Meeting and connecting with new people, and learning so much about the industry… it’s an amazing experience. We always go home with mixed emotions, feeling a bit sad that the convention is over. It’s something that’s hard to manage, we’re full of adrenaline during the event, and once we’re back home, we finally relax and the post-convention blues kick in.

Last year was packed with travel and conventions, so this year I’m taking things a bit slower. I already took part in the Jerez Convention, and I’m planning to attend one or two more towards the end of the year.

Do you remember the first tattoo convention you have ever been to?
Yes, it was the Milan Tattoo Convention, an event with an incredibly high level of talent. I enjoyed it so much, and it’s definitely a convention I’ll never forget. Honestly, over the past few years, I’ve worked really hard to build my studio so that now I can finally attend several conventions a year and travel more freely. In the beginning, I couldn’t travel much, running a business on your own means making a lot of sacrifices, but it’s been worth it.

What’s your primary reason to attend a tattoo convention?
I love meeting new artists and tattooers, every person’s mind is a unique world. I’m fascinated by original designs and creative work, and I’m always eager to keep learning and growing. First and foremost, it’s about living the experience of each convention and taking away something positive from it. I also have to say I’m quite a perfectionist and pretty competitive when it comes to competitions, it pushes me to give my best.

What’s your favorite tattoo convention so far? And why?
I’d say the Milan Tattoo Convention has been my favorite so far. There are still a few conventions I haven’t had the pleasure of going to yet, but they’re definitely on my wish list, like this year’s World of Ink. Sadly, the dates didn’t work out for me this time, but it’s definitely something I’ve got my eye on for next year. It’s a convention that really stands out, and besides the experience itself, I’m sure it would be an incredible learning opportunity.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career as a tattoo artist?
Discipline and consistency, hard work is everything! As we say, “If you keep going, you’ll get there.” Draw a lot, practice constantly, and take part in seminars. These days, there are so many resources available, both in-person and online. People who want to learn today have way more tools than we did back when we were starting out, so take advantage of that and never stop learning.

Who are the people you admire the most within the tattoo community?
One of my biggest inspirations is Abian Lamotta, I absolutely love how he combines geometry with semi-realism. His mind and creativity blow me away, especially the way he designs and connects pieces so precisely. I also had the pleasure of meeting Raimundo Ramirez at the Milan Convention; he’s someone I admire deeply and he’s shared many helpful tips with me.

I want to mention also Zottl Berlin as well. I took a private seminar with him, and I truly admire his precision and technique, especially when it comes to placing and fitting geometric pieces perfectly, something that’s extremely challenging in this style.

What’s your biggest accomplishment as a tattoo artist?
I consider opening my own studio, and running it with a team of five tattoo artists, to be my biggest accomplishment so far. Starting from scratch in a different country at just 18 years old and building a stable future has been a huge personal achievement. I don’t like to show off, but I’m very aware that everything I’ve accomplished abroad, I’ve done on my own, through hard work and discipline.

I haven’t had any help, and unfortunately, I only get to see my family twice a year. I also won third place at the Alicante convention last year, which was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed that event, and I’m excited to keep participating in more conventions in the future.

Do you do other forms of art besides tattooing?
I have some creative projects planned for the future. Right now, we’re using my first studio as a private creative space, but due to time constraints, I’m currently prioritizing studying, taking courses, and attending seminars. Running a business is not easy, it doesn’t leave you with much free time, so you have to prioritize wisely.

Sometimes it’s hard to manage that time in a way that allows you to do it all: be an artist, a tattooer, a CEO managing the business, and still find a moment to grow both professionally and personally. At the end of the day, we’re just regular people trying to enjoy our free time and probably we have to prepare designs for the upcoming week! It’s definitely challenging.

What are your goals or dreams for the near future?
My goal is to keep growing as an artist, there’s still so much to learn, study, and absorb. I also have ongoing projects with my studio and many personal and professional goals I’m working towards. One of my objectives is to attend more conventions each year and stay active within the tattoo community.

Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
A little piece of me: besides tattooing, I’m passionate about sports, healthy living, and personal growth. I believe it’s something truly important that deserves time and attention, just like reading books and continuing to learn and grow as individuals.
