For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
My name is Timor. I’m a tattoo artist based in Los Angeles, specializing in blackwork and linework. I started tattooing in 2016 in Itaewon, South Korea, and developed my own style through self-teaching. For me, tattooing is more than art. It’s a personal language expressed through lines and structure.

Where did your fascination for tattoos come from?
What fascinated me most was the permanence of tattoos how a simple line could carry meaning for life. The deeply personal nature of each tattoo drew me in. I found meaning in the connection between body and story.

At what point in your life you became a professional tattoo artist?
I began tattooing in 2016, but it was a few years later, around the age of 29, that I decided to fully commit and call myself a professional. It was when I realized this path gave me both fulfillment and purpose.

How do you balance creativity with the client’s personal vision?
I prioritize understanding the client’s story and intention, and then reinterpret that through my stylistic approach. The result is a piece that honors both their meaning and my design philosophy.

How would you describe the tattoo scene in Korea these days?
Korea’s tattoo scene is dynamic despite ongoing legal restrictions. Artists continue to push creative boundaries, and Korean styles, particularly line-based and minimalist work are gaining global recognition.

How would you define your current tattoo style and how did you end up focusing on it?
My current style centers on bold, clean lines and flow-based compositions using only black ink. I was drawn to its clarity and power, and over time developed a visual language rooted in simplicity and structure.

Please walk us through your process when you start a new tattoo for your customers.
I begin by learning the client’s story and desired placement. I then draft a design that complements their body’s natural flow. On the day of the session, I review it with them and make adjustments before tattooing. The final work is always custom-built for their form.

What’s the most challenging aspect of being a tattoo artist in 2025?
Maintaining visibility and authenticity in a fast-paced digital world. Trends shift quickly, and it can be tempting to adapt too much but staying true to your identity as an artist is more important.

What’s a tattoo project that challenged your skills the most?
Large black work projects that require the lines to flow seamlessly with the body’s shape are most challenging. Especially on areas like the ribs or torso, where movement and curves demand extreme control and planning.

What’s your experience at tattoo conventions so far?
Tattoo conventions have played a huge role in my journey. I’ve learned, competed, won awards (including First place in London and Bangkok), and even judged. They’ve pushed me artistically and connected me with the global tattoo community. These experiences were both validating and motivating.

To meet artists, challenge myself, and share my work in a live setting. Each convention pushes me to evolve and stay sharp.

How do you think tattoo conventions could improve for the artists and the public?
More comfortable workspaces for artists and better lighting would help. For the public, workshops, or tattoo education spaces could deepen appreciation for the art.

What’s your favorite tattoo convention so far? And why?
The Titanic Tattoo Convention in UK stands out. It was my first time attending a European convention, and I won first place. I returned the following year as a judge, which was a huge honor and personal milestone.
