For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
Hello everyone, my name is Tanawat Saeheng from Thailand, but many people know me as Oni Irezumi.
I have been walking on the path of tattoo art for more than 9 years, driven by my passion for the beauty of body art. In the past 4 years, I have focused on developing my craft in Traditional Japanese tattoos (Irezumi).

Where did your fascination for tattoos come from?
I have loved art since childhood, and over time my passion grew stronger. When I discovered tattoos, I immediately fell in love with this form of artistic expression.

How and when did you start tattooing?
I began practicing tattooing during my university years, almost 10 years ago, in a dorm room. My very first model was one of my close friends. At the beginning, I tried every style until I eventually discovered the style that truly suited me.

Where is your studio based?
My studio is located in Rangsit, Pathum Thani, near Don Mueang Airport in Thailand.

How would you describe the tattoo scene in Thailand these days?
I believe Thailand has many highly skilled tattoo artists. However, some have yet to find their true style, which prevents them from showing their full potential. On the other hand, those who have discovered their unique identity can create exceptional and beautiful works.

How would you define your tattoo style?
My style is Traditional Japanese tattoos, because I am deeply drawn to their unique charm, refined details, and the profound meanings behind the art.

What kind of tattoo projects do you like to do the most?
My favorite style is Irezumi, which is part of the Japanese traditional category.

What’s the main source of inspiration for your tattoos?
My inspiration is to create tattoos that reflect my own identity and signature style, telling meaningful stories through a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese tattooing. I want people to immediately recognize my work as mine.

What’s the most challenging aspect of being a tattoo artist in 2025?
The greatest challenge this year is traveling abroad to compete in international tattoo conventions, while also organizing Irezumi War Thailand, which is the largest Japanese-style tattoo competition in Asia. These challenges drive me forward in both 2025 and 2026.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a tattoo artist?
For me, the most valuable aspect of tattooing is creating pieces that carry stories and meanings etched into the skin.

What’s your experience at tattoo conventions so far?
This is my third year competing in tattoo contests. I have already won 52 awards, both in Thailand and abroad. Through both victories and defeats, I have gained valuable experiences. My current goal is to reach 100 awards.

Do you remember the first tattoo convention you have ever been to?
Yes, my first convention was a small competition, which didn’t really align with my current style. The event that truly transformed me was an Expo in 2023.

What’s your primary reason to attend a tattoo convention?
The main reason is to connect with fellow tattoo artists and enthusiasts. While competitions are important, what I value the most is meeting people who share the same passion.

What’s your favorite tattoo convention so far? And why?
I love every tattoo convention I attend because each event brings its own stories and meaningful experiences.

Who are the people you admire the most within the tattoo community?
• In Thailand, I admire Tattoo Hermi.
• Internationally, I admire Shigehara. Even though his style is different from mine, I have followed his work since the beginning and he continues to inspire me.
