Indy Tattoo Expo

Indy Tattoo Expo is celebrating the history of tattooing and the growth of our Industry.

Now to introduce the man not only crazy enough to dream it, but passionate enough to chase down those dreams, the Indy Tattoo Expo creator, Chris Allen Taylor. Chris has been intrigued by the art of tattooing since the age of 10 when he met his would-be mentor, James “Rabbit’ Sanders. He began his apprenticeship under Rabbit in 1992, at the age of 15. After getting his first tattoo that same year, he never looked back.

Chris Taylor is not only a tattoo artist, but an enthusiast and avid collector of tattoo history. Throughout his 27 years in the industry, he has been lead by his vision of taking tattooing to the next level. Anyone who knows Chris, knows at the top of his list of must-do’s has always been to open his own shop, host a top-level tattoo expo, and create a tattoo history museum. He checked the first off the list in 2012 when he opened Indy’s premier tattoo and piercing studio, Ink Therapy.

  • Cheyenne

You are now invited to join us at the INDY TATTOO EXPO, June 19th-21st, 2020 at the New Embassy Suites Hotel and Expo Center in Plainfield, IN, where Chris is bringing elite artists in from around the world for an epic weekend of live tattoo action and fulfills another “crazy” dream!

After over 15 years in the industry out in Cali, he decided to become an Indiana Hoosier. Known for his Japanese Traditional style, owner of New Generation Ink.....BILLY TRUONG!!!!!!!!!!
@newgenerationink The first tattoo Billy remembers seeing was a dragon on his friend. In 1999, at the age of 19, he did his first tattoo, coincidentally, of a dragon on his friend. He enjoyed doing that tattoo so much that he decided to continue tattooing. Billy is self taught and began his career at New Generation Tattoo in San Jose, California.

Joining us from The Artistry Realm, @theartistryrealm known for his photo realism, neo-traditional, and mixed style.......DANIEL "Benny Rome" ROMERO!!!!!!!!!! @benny_rome.ink
Benny clearly recalls first seeing what can only be surmised as three hand poked dots in a triangle shape on the hand of his friend in middle school. By the time he was a freshman in High School, Benny had started designing and drawing tattoos. "I collected every machine I could. I always wanted to work in the industry and be an artist." Benny didn't have a traditional apprenticeship, even though he was in a tattoo shop. "It was a long trial and error for the most part. Eric Noe @tattooedsaintz and Brad "Biggins" Warner @tattoobiggins taught me the basics. Michael Shultz @iamshultz refined my talent." In 2009, at the age of 19, Benny made his first tattoo; a castle on Eric Noe's calf. Some of the Indy shops he has worked at include, Eastside Tattoo, Indianapolis Ink, and Steel Rod Tattoo.
You can check out his work on FB www.facebook.com/bennytat2 and on IG @benny_rome.ink #artisrty #indianapolis #indytattooexpo #creativeworkspace #tattoolifestyle #artistryrealm #inktherapyindiana #2020 #indianatattoo

Adding to the all-star Ink Therapy home team lineup, known for her Neo-traditional style with bold colors; the Queen of the three liner......DEVON AGEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being surrounded by tattoos since birth, Devon is unsure which she saw first. It's highly likely it would've been her father's tattoo sleeves. "He traveled to Switzerland when I was 4 or 5 to have them started by Filip Leu." Either that, or it was her grandfather's tattoo of a little devil baby on his upper arm that he's only showed to her once when she was a kid. Devon has always loved art and creating, whether it was through drawing and painting or crafting objects. Her initial perception of art was that it was meant for museums or wasn't something appreciated by others until you were dead. She didn't find that appealing, so she planned to go to college like any good public school student. By the age of 12, however, her artistic abilities were noticeably more advanced, and her father proposed the idea that she could apprentice to be a tattoo artist. "It was like a match was lit. I immediately fell in love with the idea that no matter what, my art would be seen by anyone and everyone; not confined by 4 walls and societal standards. My art could travel the world, make people feel good about themselves, or heal them. That's why I chose tattooing."
Devon apprenticed under her father, St. Marq @saintmarq. She would complete her first tattoo, a rose off a flash sheet by Judy Parker, on Ericka Bales (whom she also considers a mentor) when she was 14. She would go on to finish school early to devote her time to being a tattoo artist, and began her professional career the day she turned 18. Devon spent roughly three years at her father's shop, New Breed Tattoo in West Lafayette, Indiana before deciding she needed to blaze her own trail. She would spend a short time at Evil Genius Tattoo Club in Lafayette, Indiana before finding her "forever home" at Ink Therapy!
You can check out her work on FB www.facebook.com/devon.agee.5 and on IG @devine_tattoo #inktherapyindiana #indytattooexpo #femaletattooartist #thebest #tattoogod #bestteam #2020
