The Urban Culture Festival “BAUM Fest” is the reference event of urban culture in this country. BAUM Fest returns again to the catalan capital with the latest news and a unique exhibition that combines different disciplines related to urban art, an appointment attended by around 18,000 people.
The latest artistic proposals related to urban culture can be seen throughout the weekend. You will be able to enjoy Breaking Bboy Battle & All Styles dance competitions with dance battle, as well as presentations of choreographic groups from schools or running areas. During the three days you can also be entertained by the indoor skatepark of Extreme Sports Competitions, where you will see the best tricks of BMX, Inline and Skate. Moreover, the little ones can start in the BMX world with test bicycles and monitors. And there’s even more to see; the motor zone will host the custom vehicle competitions: Bike Show and Car Show, where workshops throughout the country will present their latest work on motorcycles and cars from the world of Custom.
Also, under BAUM Fest, returns the always outstanding International Tattoo Convention of Barcelona, which comes back to the city in its XXII edition, more consolidated than ever and with a very outstanding offer, bringing together more than 300 professionals from different parts of the world willing to offer their art to anyone who decides to visit Fira Barcelona. The International Tattoo Convention of Barcelona orders each year a promotional poster to one of the national tattoo artists with the intention of enhancing their work. Dani Martos, from Demon Tattoo of La Seu D’Urgell, is the Spanish artist responsible for creating the poster for this 22nd edition. Dani began his career as a carpenter, passionate about realism and, little by little, he changed his support, moving his drawings from wood to skin.
BAUM Fest is positioned as a must encounter for lovers of urban culture, a weekend in which activities and shows are happening at a fast pace under the hum of tattoo machines and the smell of ink. BAUM Fest is art in capital letters; it is music, dance, fashion, sport; it is what you breathe in the street, the smell of wheels. It is the sum of the best talents in urban art. BAUM Fest is city.
Colin Dale, born in 1965 in Canada, Scandinavian and Canadian descendant.
Colin’s parents also welcomed native children with special needs, which allowed him to learn about the culture, history and rock art of his land: the petroglyphs – pictographs of his native Canada -, “helleristninger” and the runic stones of his Scandinavian ancestry.
Colin’s research has helped reintroduce the lost tattoo techniques of the Nordic, Native American and Inuit cultures.
Colin works by applying the hand poke technique that consists of performing the tattoo by hand, without the use of machines. It is a slow technique, but the process is much less painful and heals much faster. It is a different tattoo experience that allows you to approach the image from a unique place for both the tattooist and the tattooed.
Teresa Sharpe – USA. Theresa was the winner of the second edition of the television program “Best Ink”. This girl from Indiana has become very famous as a result of the contest: in her work, you can see a lot of crows and other birds, such as owls, but what characterizes her the most are her pastel tones in the designs, apart from some gore touches. The warmth of her colors is spectacular, so much so that any piece of this tattoo artist is easily recognizable. She works with tones full of life. Her tattoos have perfect and overwhelming shapes and textures
Jenna Kerr – UK .
Kerr is from the United Kingdom, but her intricately detailed jewelry tattoos have attracted worldwide attention and praise.
She combines baroque filigree designs with jewels, precious stones and ornamental accents prepared by experts to create tattoos that seem to shine on the skin. In addition, many of her tattoo pieces feature impressive faces of real women or animals.
With more than 220,000 followers on Instagram, she has reached a critical mass among tattoo lovers.
Jee Salayero – Madrid.
Illustrative and Neojap. The original compositions of Jee Sayalero are frankly unforgettable. His tattoos seem to tell stories. His perfect harmony and special color have marked Jee’s style since his early works. He is located in HumanFly Studio in Madrid.
Miguel A. Bohigues – Valencia
Miguel Bohigues is one of the most popular tattoo artists in Spain. His Black & Gray tattoos are the result of his obsession with details. A clear work where darkness intensifies to create natural depth. One of the best options to have a great realistic work on your skin.
Torsten Malm – Estonia.
“I really didn’t have much experience in drawing, painting or any art form, but things got in place, since they tend to do it if you put a lot of effort into the things you like and love. When I really fell in love with drawing, I knew it was something I wanted to learn and improve. From that day, I spent most of the mornings before work, and most nights after work, drawing with my wife. This, of course, led to tattoo, which has always interested me. I am extremely happy that this interest has become a passion.”
This passion is reflected in all the tattoos he performs with a realistic technique.
Nikki Simpson – USA.
Nikki Simpson is a tattoo artist who works in New York. Known for tattooing detailed faces of women, black and gray, with splashes of color.
Simpson participated in Season 8 of “Ink Master” and formed an alliance with other female tattoo artists such as Ryan Ashley, Kelly Doty and Gia Rose. The four artists later presented “Ink Master Angels”.
Now that the reality shows are over, Simpson has returned to tattooing full time in Manhattan. Simpson’s style is a romantic and illustrative realism. His themes range from forest witches and fierce goddesses to perfectly defined roses and ornamental accents.
Tomasz Tofi – Poland
After years of getting tattooed, he opened in Rybnik his own studio of copyrighted tattoos INK-OGNITO. He has a degree in Fine Arts in Cieszyn. His favorite style is a colorful surrealism. A few years ago he began to design tattoos with 3D graphics, which today are the basis of his work. He was one of the first artist to do so in the world. He has been first prize in most European conventions such as Paris, Berlin, Rome, Brussels, Dortmund or Frankfurt. Tofi permanently cooperates with several European tattoo studios and also teaches seminars on design and tattoos.
Viviana Calvo – Málaga.
Coming from Benalmádena (Málaga), one of the emerging values of our country, Viviana Calvo, will show her works full of color and vivacity.
Debora Cherrys – Madrid.
Debora is clearly identified by two styles: realism and neo-traditional (a fusion between realism and traditional with a personal touch and a lot of colour). That being said, we should highlight to her great versatility and the ease with which she adapts to any type of tattoo. This great Spanish artist was responsible for making the poster of the last edition. Debora is famous for both her style and her smile. A great person with a great gift. Tattoo artist of La Mujer Barbuda, studio in Madrid.
