For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Noemy, an Italian tattoo artist also known as Noemesys Tattoo. I started as a painter and photographer, I studied pictorial decoration in high school, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, and later obtained a Master’s degree in Cinema. Art has always been at the center of my world. I’m also passionate about music and I have organized concerts in the past, so I’ve always been fully immersed in the art world.

Where did your fascination for tattoos come from?
My passion for tattooing began when I first saw a tattoo on my father and later on my mother. I was about ten years old, and I already loved drawing and painting. I knew I would attend an art school in the future, so the idea that these drawings could be imprinted on the skin fascinated me.

How and when did you start tattooing?
I started tattooing quite late, around the age of 29/30. Despite my passion since childhood, I always saw the tattoo industry as a closed, male-dominated world with rigid barriers that left little room for newcomers, especially women. I found the courage to pursue this career after working in jobs that didn’t fully satisfy me, and I carved out my own path through determination. Luckily, today things are different.

Where are you based?
I work in Bologna, where, in September 2024, I finally opened my own studio, Garden Ink. It’s a green, youthful, and relaxing space, open to tattoo artists of all backgrounds and specializations.

How would you describe the tattoo scene in Italy these days?
The tattoo industry in Italy is changing a lot because Italy itself is evolving. I’ve even had the chance to tattoo elderly women, which says a lot about this shift.

How would you define your tattoo style?
My signature style consists of colorful tattoos of plants, flowers, and animals, rendered as realistically as possible, rich in fine details, shading, and light. I love micro-realism and small subjects, but I also work on larger pieces when requested. This style reflects my deep passion for plants, flowers, and natural subjects in general.

What kind of tattoo projects do you like to do the most?
I love flowers and plants, especially the unusual ones. I enjoy it when clients request subjects I’ve never seen before.

What’s the main source of inspiration for your tattoos?
Nature is the greatest inspiration for my tattoos.

What’s the most challenging aspect of being a tattoo artist in 2025?
Being original means never relying on copying. This industry is constantly expanding, and the risk of becoming repetitive or unoriginal is a challenge for every tattoo artist.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a tattoo artist?
Seeing clients get emotional when they see their ideas come to life on their skin.

What’s your experience at tattoo conventions so far?
I have participated in tattoo conventions in Milan and Warsaw.

Do you remember the first tattoo convention you have ever been to?
The Warsaw convention in 2018 was a key experience for me. I traveled completely alone, made friends with local tattoo artists, and returned to Warsaw multiple times afterward to get tattooed myself.

What’s your primary reason to attend a tattoo convention?
I love the exchange of ideas, learning, and participation. I enjoy attending conventions, not just for tattooing or competitions, but for the continuous sharing of knowledge.

What’s your favorite tattoo convention so far? And why?
My favorite convention was definitely Warsaw, as it allowed me to stay in touch with people who have enriched me both artistically and personally.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career as a tattoo artist?
Run away! Hahaha, just kidding! I have an apprentice at my studio, and every day I tell her that the biggest challenge is staying humble, understanding, and attentive with clients, and, above all, respecting the ethics of this profession.

Who are the people you admire the most within the tattoo community?
I admire Rostra, Phil Garcia, Matteo Nangeroni (with whom I was lucky enough to work in his tattoo studio), Pawel Indulski, Pittakkm, and Oozy; they are a huge inspiration to me.

What’s your biggest accomplishment as a tattoo artist?
I’m not sure… maybe the ability to make people happy, even if just for a moment. When they feel more beautiful or fulfilled. We can’t solve life’s problems, but at least we bring a smile.

Do you do other forms of art besides tattooing?
As I mentioned before, I started as a painter and photographer, so I love drawing and painting (even though I don’t have much time for it anymore). Photography has always been a part of all my creative work.

What are your goals or dreams for the near future?
I’d love to establish a base in another country so I could work six months in Italy and six months abroad, maybe in California or Japan.

Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
Always be honest, understanding, and open-minded—ready to embrace everything possible.
