For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
Hi! My name is Danny, aka Mr.Pixel. I was born and raised in Singapore, and I specialize in pixel art tattoos.
Where did your fascination for tattoos come from?
Since I was young, I’ve been curious about tattoos because of my dad’s influence. He has a full back colored eagle tattoo, and I was always fascinated how a beautiful piece of artwork could be imprinted on human skin.
How and when did you start tattooing?
I started tattooing since the COVID-19 period. Before that, I was working as an interior designer and I used to run a bar. However, the pandemic hit me real bad especially after my dad was diagnosed with last stage cancer, I realized that life is short and I should pursue my passion and curiosity of tattooing.
Where are you currently based?
I’m currently based in Singapore. However, I travel around very often for guest work and conventions. I’m proud to be part of World Tattoo Events Pro Team, which has given me opportunities and exposure to participate all international conventions around the world.
How would you describe the tattoo scene in your country these days?
Despite being a small country, the population in Singapore is pretty dense and tattooing had become a growing trend. Many people are curious about tattoos, and people don’t judge if you have a tattoo. I would say tattoos are widely accepted in today’s social norms.
How would you define your tattoo style?
I specialize in pixel art tattoos. This is a unique style that requires absolute precision and a high degree of creativity. Each design is meticulously crafted, often evoking a sense of nostalgia by bringing back childhood memories of early video games and 8-bit art. I believe my work is more than just body art; it is a vivid reminder of a simpler time, resonating deeply with those who grew up during the dawn of the digital age.
What’s the main source of inspiration for your tattoos?
Nostalgia. I grew up playing a lot of video games. Especially being a 90s kid, I grew up with Super Nintendo console games and PC games. I’ve always dreamed of having all my childhood memories on skin, just like the excitement everyone gets when looking at childhood photos and memories.

They’re a great opportunity to meet talented tattoo artists from around the world who share the same passion as mine, gathering at one venue learning and sharing with each other. It’s an honor for me to be invited to various major international conventions to be part of their panel of judges as well such as Ancona International Tattoo Convention in Italy, Ligligan Tattoo Convention in the Philippines, Artistica Ink Festival in Thailand, Art and Culture Festival in Chennai, Inkdian Tattoo Convention in Goa etc.

One of my favorite tattoo convention is Ankonventional International Tattoo Convention, held in Ancona, Italy. It was a truly memorable experience.
What advice would you offer to someone considering a career as a tattoo artist?
My biggest advice is being humble. No matter how good you are or how popular you will be, there’s always room to improve and learn. Work hard, play hard, have fun, and enjoy the journey of pursuing your passion.
Who are the people you admire the most within the tattoo community?
Definitely my sponsors such as Poseidon Tattoo, Dr. Pickles and World Tattoo Events. Without their hard work of keeping and improving equipment, aftercare products and events, the tattoo scene would be mundane. Art work on skin would not be as what it is today. The hard work and RnD put in to improve the community as a whole is admirable.
