For the readers who are not familiar with you, how would you introduce yourself?
Hello, I’m Meow-Meow, a cartoon tattoo artist from China. I love anything cute, and I also enjoy designing beautiful women. I have a passion for colorful and cool styles.

How and when did you start tattooing?
I have been doing tattoos since 2015. The reason I chose this way is that I have always loved painting and designing. Tattooing is like drawing on the body, and it allows me to express my aesthetics and personality, much like wearing clothes does.

How would you describe the tattoo scene in China these days?
Hundreds of flowers are in full bloom, and tattooists of various styles compete for beauty like spring flowers, and hundreds of families compete for beauty.

How would you define your tattoo style?
I would define my tattoo style as a blend of cartoon, cute, cool, and colorful elements.

What is the main source of inspiration for your tattoos?
My main sources of inspiration for my tattoos come from cartoons, animated movies, and my own makeup and outfits of the day (OOTD).

What is the most challenging aspect of being a tattoo artist in 2024?
The biggest challenge for a tattoo artist in 2024 is having the ability to design and plan effectively, and to create customized tattoos that truly reflect each customer’s personality.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a tattoo artist?
As a tattoo artist, the most rewarding thing for me is seeing a customer’s happiness each time they get a new tattoo. That sense of fulfillment is truly rewarding.

When creating cute little creatures, one challenge is balancing my own preferences with the unique personalities of each customer.

What is your experience at tattoo conventions so far?
My experience at the tattoo conventions has been fantastic. It’s great to connect with different artists and learn from each interaction. I’m really happy to meet more friends who share the same passion.

Do you remember the first tattoo convention you attended?
I remember feeling very nervous at my first tattoo conference. I was unsure of what to expect and didn’t like the idea of so many people watching me.

What is your primary reason to participate at tattoo conventions?
My primary reason for participating in tattoo conventions is to advance my skills, connect with fellow artists, and gain recognition from customers in the industry.

What is your favorite tattoo convention so far? Why?
My favorite tattoo convention so far is the Rouen Tattoo Convention. It was amazing to see so many tattooists from around the world and to witness such a diverse range of people getting tattoos—even grandmothers bringing their granddaughters! The atmosphere was incredibly lively, with everyone dancing and having a great time. There were also a lot of visitors, which made it even more exciting.

How important is it for you to participate in conventions and events?
Attending meetings and activities is very important to me. I put a lot of effort into preparing, like buying clothes, hairpins, and shoes well in advance for the convention. I even had trouble sleeping the night before because I was so excited!

Who are the people you admire the most within the tattoo community?
Victor Chil and Logan One.

You have so many fans around the world, what is the secret of your fast-growing popularity?
The secret to my popularity is that my style matches what many young people like. I try to share something cheerful and cute, which helps people who might be feeling stressed or bored feel happier.

What advice would you offer to someone considering a career as a tattoo artist?
If you’re thinking about becoming a tattoo artist, remember that it takes patience and persistence. It might seem boring at first, but it’s a job that offers both artistic fulfillment and a sense of achievement. Besides learning tattoo techniques, you’ll also need to develop your sense of aesthetics, communication skills, and knowledge of how to use the internet effectively.

What’s your biggest accomplishment as a tattoo artist?
My greatest achievement as a tattoo artist is seeing my customers genuinely happy with their tattoos. It’s also a great honor to be interviewed and recognized for my work.

Yes, I also create art in other forms, such as T-shirts, socks, necklaces, illustrations, and tattoo stickers.
