UPDATE: Thank you ROT family for the tremendous outpouring of support. Today, the Travis County Commissioners Court agreed to table the vote for a week to allow time to negotiate a resolution. We are hopeful that we will come to an arrangement that ensures that ROT Rally will happen as planned. We will update you as soon as we have news.

ROT Rally to be run out of Austin?! We need your help. On Tuesday, there will be a voting agenda request that could block the ROT Rally, Heat Wave and other like festivals out at the Travis County Expo during the entire prime summer festival season - exactly what the Expo facility was purposed for--and instead turn it into a customer service center for the whole summer. See the full agenda here and call your elected officials to help save ROT Rally. We appreciate your support. We started in Austin and hope to be here for a long time in the future! #SaveROTRally #SaveHeatWave

I think its time for the ROT to move on to a different venue. It’s pass time for the ROT to reinvent itself and get back to what it should be about, motorcycles and riding the hill country, music meeting folks from around the world...who enjoy the two wheel world and life style. Time to make this rally fun again, how bout move the ROT to San Antonio 🍻
Good riddance. ROT is cancer. Maybe the event has good intentions but the riders it attracts just make us all look bad.
Bring back the titties and beer and the nude dances like they had in 97-09 Less golf carts and more bikes. I might think about going again. ROT sucks ass these days. Only thing you have going for you is the concerts, and even then it is hit or miss.
Sounds like they put them selves in this position by not responding or negotiating the contract. So now move or sign the new contract.
That's not right. We look forward for that week to come.
It sounds as if it is unwanted in Austin so why not take the venue to a more appreciative location that would enjoy the revenue associated with the event. I would recommend Fredericksburg. By far a much more enjoyable and scenic ride.
It’s Travis county. They’d cut off their “noses” to spite their “faces”. Lol.
I know they were raising prices and being difficult with promoters but now I know why. 150k for 3 months seems like a small #
I could care less about the golf cart rally! I mean the Rot Rally! There's too many wannabe bikers and golf carts to have a good time. And it's way overpriced!
Sign the agreement, problem solved.
Well, they DID send you a contract extension and you turned it down. Quit being snowflakes...
ROT brings in more tax revenue than the $150k they'll get for that rental. And it's recurring annually. Bean counter not understanding where the beans are!
Maybe someone mentioned this already, but I bet the Expo center makes more than 150,000 in beer sales off ROT alone. Heat wave might be just as much. $300,000 plus rental fees ads up to more than 150,000. Pretty clear to me that this is a better decision if all that matters are the dollars and cents the county takes in.
ROT organizers should have signed the agreement instead of holding out for a cheaper rental rate...
ROT missed their chance to reserve the facility, someone else grabbed it. End of story... tough luck.
Collin Sheri Been to ROT several times. It was fun when I first stared going. But recent years saw an increase in registration fees and fewer and fewer vendors. I never went for the bands or the campground activities. Always enjoyed the parade, 6th Street and riding around the Austin area. We didn’t go this year because of said reasons. That’s just me and I know many others like it for their own reasons. If it dies, no loss for me. I like Lone Star much better. I think their “business model” is much better. Just wish the riding around Galveston was better.
That’s just the banquet hall which I’m guessing is where the inside vendors are. Of course you couldn’t leave them there and have the Rally around them. This is Travis County also not the City of Austin. I’m pretty sure ROT pays a lot more than $105K for the entire facility for 4 days. Sounds like a strong arm tactic to get their new rates. I know the ROT makes millions just on RV spaces, individual ticket sales and vendor rentals. I wonder who gets the profits? I’m sure it’s not just a break even event. I’ll bet they can afford the new rates but it’ll equate out to higher ticket prices which everyone will just bend over and take it.
The price has gone up every year I think ROT can afford the $150k they have been paying it since 2017 if not move it stay out of the big City's they get greedy every year
I moved to Texas in August of 2012 and attended the ROT Rally in 2013. I must agree with some of the people. It was my first time attending this event and I felt it wasn't as enjoyable as most people told me it would be. Finding hotel vacancies is almost impossible. Parking is another issue. Everything happens on 6th street and if you're not on that stretch of road early you aren't allowed to ride on it! So good luck trying to find a place to park close enough so you don't have to walk a mile to enjoy the festivities. The Rally is an important part of Texas history but maybe its time to change the venue to accommodate everyone. I haven't attended the Rally since then but if the venue was different then I would attend it again. Let's stop lashing out at each other and get to the issue at hand!
I have been to EVERY ROT. If it goes away, I will miss it like crazy. I bet College Station would welcome ROT too.
Please change the date. I go to Laconia Bike Week every year (which is a better rally...no offense) and this always conflicts with that. I have pulled off both before, but it's a pain in the ass. It's the oldest motorcycle race and rally in the country. I would show some respect for it. Again not trying to be insulting...I'm trying to spend my money at ROT, but you aren't making it easy on me.
Move to San Antonio area.. Atleast there tons of hill country riding in the area.. Austin is concrete jungle..
Move it to a City that wants it, I am sure others would love the revenue it generates
other towns have pushed rallies out then missed that revenue and begged them to come back. Don't make us go else where!!!
Need to move, new location would be a nice change! Been there done that so new location with new memories might be good.
